See below for the admission requirements and how to apply.
Bowen University Post-UTME screening eligibility and registration procedure for 2023/2024 has been published. Applications are being accepted from adequately qualified applicants for admission to BOWEN UNIVERSITY degree programmes for the 2023/2024 academic session.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION/ELIGIBILITY
UTME
- All applicants are required to sit for 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
- All applicants must have credits in at least five (5) courses from SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or an approved equivalent, including English Language and four other subjects that are specified by each Faculty.
- The five credits should be obtained at not more than two sittings.
- The five credits (including Mathematics and English) for Medicine and Surgery (MB; BS), Nursing Science, and Physiotherapy programmes must be obtained in a single sitting, and NABTEB is not accepted.
- Candidates with awaiting results may apply.
- All applicants will be required to go through Bowen University Screening Exercise.
- Applicants are to complete the University Application forms.
- Interested candidates who have applied to JAMB for admission and wish to change their choice of institution to Bowen University are required to:
- Apply for change of institution through JAMB
- Complete Bowen University Application Form
- Participate in the Bowen University screening process.
DIRECT ENTRY
All applicants for Direct Entry must satisfy any of the following:
- NCE at credit level, ND and approved equivalents with at least Lower Credit in relevant fields.
- At least two Advanced Level passes at acceptable grade level.
- The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), or Cambridge Moderated School of Basic Studies at acceptable grade levels.
Candidates must meet the Ordinary Level requirements in addition to NCE/ND/IJMB, JUPEB, or two Advanced Level papers stipulated by each faculty or program.
HND holders may be admitted to either the 200 or 300 level, depending on the regulations guiding admission to each department / program.
All direct entry candidates are required to apply through JAMB.

O' Level Subjects
Candidates is required to have five O’ Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
For Medicine and Surgery, Nursing and Physiotherapy programmes, the five (5) O’ Level credits (including Mathematics and English) must be obtained at one sitting and NABTEB is not acceptable.
UTME Subjects

- Advanced Level GCE/Cambridge/IJMB/JUPEB at an acceptable grade level
- Candidates with B. Sc. Second Class Upper Division in a related discipline can apply for the MB;BS programme.
- In addition, candidates must satisfy the O’ level requirements as stated in 2(a) above.
- For Nursing Science, candidates with RN/SRN plus five (5) O’ level credits including English Language and Mathematics can apply and be admitted to 200 Level.
- Physiotherapy, Public Health and Nursing, candidates with a degree in relevant discipline not less than 2nd Class Lower Division can apply.
- For Medical Laboratory Sciences;
B.Sc. degree in relevant disciplines such as Zoology, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, etc; as approved by Senate.

- For Environmental Management and Control, candidates must possess five O’ level credits to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agric. Science, Chemistry and one of Physics, Geography or Economics.

- All applicants are required to have credits in at least five O` Level (5) subjects at SSCE, GCE, NECO, or approved equivalent.
- The five (5) credits must include English language and other specific departmental requirements.
- The five credits must be obtained at not more than two sittings.
