Brief History of Ekiti State University, EKSU
University of Ekiti Ado Ekiti, EKSUwas founded on March 30, 1982, as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ado-Ekiti, by the administration of Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin, the first civilian governor of Ondo State. The university is a member of the Commonwealth Universities Association.

Ekiti State University, or Ado-Ekiti as it is now known, is Nigeria's only university whose name has changed four times in the last quarter-century. In 1985, it was renamed Ondo State University, then the University of Ado-Ekiti in November 1999, and finally the Ekiti State University of Ado Ekiti in September 2011. According to webometrics, it will be the third-best state university in Nigeria in 2021.
